Powerball jackpot soars to $1.4B, fourth-largest in game's history
Estimated cash value stands at $634.3M after no ticket matched all numbers on Monday
The Powerball jackpot surged to an estimated $1.4 billion ahead of Wednesday night's drawing, making it the fourth-largest prize in the game's history.
The pot grew after no ticket matched all six numbers from Monday night's drawing.
The white balls were 8, 23, 25, 40, 53. The red Powerball was 5.

It now has an estimated cash value of $634.3 million, according to the lottery. The winner will walk away with much less after federal taxes are taken out, with the government taking a 37% cut, leaving the winner with 63%, based on IRS estimates.

Many winners will also get hit with a state tax that can range from 3% to 11%. California, Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming don't tax lottery winnings.

The jackpot was most recently won on May 31, 2025, in California. There have been 32 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner since then.

Ten tickets nationwide won prizes worth $1 million after matching all five white balls, despite there being no jackpot winner. The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey (two), New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Two tickets in Montana and North Carolina increased their winnings to $2 million by including the Power Play option for $1 more.

Players who win the jackpot can receive the money in annual installments or a lump sum payment. If the annuity option is selected, the player receives an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% every year.

The odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to Powerball.
