It’s official – the iPhone 15 will become available soon.
Apple made the official introduction of its four new iPhone 15 models on Tuesday, detailing the features and price tags each would sport. It did so during its live "Wonderlust" event.
For many people around the world, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will come out Sept. 22. However, the company will start taking pre-orders for the devices on Friday.
Apple said it will bring Dynamic Island and USB-C format charging to all versions of the iPhone 15, two features that prior reports had suggested would appear on the new lineup.
Dynamic Island, which pops up at the top of the device’s screen, provides a "way to interact with important alerts and Live Activities" easily, according to the company.
All will operate with iOS17 too.
In terms of sizing, the iPhone 15 display will come in at 6.1 inches. Meanwhile, the Plus will have a slightly larger one, at 6.7-inches.
Apple said it had incorporated a 48 megapixel primary camera into the two base models, with a "new 24MP super-high-resolution default" and an "additional 2x Telephoto option" for a trio of zoom levels. It also boosted the ability to take portrait photos with the devices.
They both contain an A16 Bionic chip and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. The latter enables the devices to have Precision Finding in the Find My friends feature.
Apple listed pink, yellow, green, blue and black as the five colors for those two models.
The company will charge $799 for the iPhone 15 and $899 for the iPhone 15 Plus. That means their starting prices stayed flat from where the prior models stood for the same versions.
Meanwhile, the cost of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max will stand at $999 and $1,199, respectively, according to the company. The Pro Max’s price tag represented an increase.
Apple said it would include the Action Button on the Pro and Pro Max, doing away with the switch on the side to turn the ringer on or off. The new button gives "additional options so users can choose between quickly accessing" various actions, according to the company.
Similar to the base and Plus versions of the iPhone 15, the Pro and Pro Max are slated to offer a 48MP primary camera but with other benefits. On top of that the Pro has a 3x Telephoto camera, while the Pro Max has one that reaches 5x at 120 mm, Apple said.
In both of the Pro devices, Apple chose to use an A17 Pro chip.
Apple built the Pro models using titanium. In connection to that, they have black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium and natural titanium as their color options.
Sizing is similar to the iPhone 15 and Plus, with the Pro featuring a 6.1-inch display and the Pro Max getting 6.7-inch.
Apple has seen its products and services bring in a total of $293.79 billion in net sales in the first three quarters of its fiscal 2023 year. In the same time frame last year, it generated $304.18 billion.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the value of the company’s stock has experienced a roughly 2.3% drop from where it started in the morning.
